In honor of President's Day this last Monday I had a picture of Mt. Rushmore on the Morning Agenda.  Thus, started a great class discussion:
-Where is Mt. Rushmore?
-When was it built?
-Who was choosen to be featured on this gargantuan piece of rock?
-What mountain is it carved into?
-Who designed it?

Okay my brainlings.....who can answer these questions so we can expand our knowledge on this famous American landmark????

*Briana answered the first question: It is located in South Dakota.  Way to go girl!!!!

The whole project of Mount Rushmore cost $989,992.32.It was originally planned for the figures to be carved from head to waist but they were short of funds. This project took 400 workers who had to climb up 506 stairs to get to the top. Dynamite was used to carve Mount Rushmore. This is called honeycombing. This monument is 60 feet high. Each president's head is as tall as a 6 story building. Their eyes were 11 feet across, their noses were 20 feet long, and their mouths were 18 feet wide.
