We talked about the idea of Manifest Destiny, which was the belief of expanding the United States as far east and west as possible today in Social Studies. The map shows the different territories the United States bought from different countries to make the U.S. the size it is today. One of our students then asked the question, “How much did it cost for the U.S. to be the size it is today? So the blog task today kiddos is for you to find how much the U.S. spent on all of their land purchases throughout history. To help guide your research here is a list of the different land/territories the U.S. purchased from 1800-1867. You can earn a Cranium Star if you can tell us how much each of these cost. You can earn another star if you can tell us what states the U.S. acquired because of these purchases. If you really want to challenge yourself, see if you can come up with the total bill by the end of these purchases.:
