The White Cliffs of Dover

We were reading a passage today in reading that mentioned the white cliffs of Dover.  someone inquired, why are they white?  So blog questions tonight are:

-Where are the White Cliffs of Dover located?
-Why are they white?

Mrs. Hill, the White Cliffs of Dover are located on the British coastline. They are white because they are made of chalk that is made of the skeletons of tiny algae.

I think the Dover Cliffs are in England, but I'm not sure.

The White Cliffs of Dover are located along the coastline of England.

Located-They are 20 miles from Calais, France.

Why there white- They are made of shells and skeletons that make up chalky layers of limestone.
